I know some
of you might think it’s too early for Christmas but for me it’s never too
early. I’ve already started my holiday reading and let me tell you there are some fab holiday
reads this year. So officially starting next month I will be reviewing a ton of
them. However I thought I would give you a sneak peek by highlighting one of
faves so far.

Synopsis
Sleigh
bells, snow, and second chances . . .
Briar
Creek's quaint shop windows, cozy homes nestled in snow, and neighborly
residents are what Christmas dreams are made of--for everyone except Grace
Madison. She left her hometown years ago to pursue a writing career. But when
her father's death leaves his bookstore empty, Grace must return to face why
she fled Vermont in the first place: Luke Hastings, who still heats her up like
a shot of smoky whiskey on a cold winter's night.
Grace is
back, and Luke is worried. How much has she changed as a bestselling author in
the big city? What memories will she stir up? And was the choice he made five
years ago the biggest mistake of his life?
Now, with
their past, present, and future rocking around the Christmas tree, it's time
for Grace and Luke to face the music . . . and the mistletoe.
My Thoughts
Oh how I
loved this novel! This is the perfect fit to be introduced as my first holiday
read. This novel is all about second chances and finding who you are and what
you want to do with your life.
This is the
story of Grace and Luke two people who grew up together and have been in love
with each other basically their whole lives. However it seems that their timing has
always been a little off when it came to making life decisions involving each
other. Luke always knew he wanted to stay in Briar Creek and make his life
there, while Grace always had bigger dreams than just her small town. So Grace
left and moved to New York to pursue her dreams of being a writer. She came
back once but Luke had moved on and was engaged to someone else.
Five years
have passed and Grace has finally come back home for the holidays. It’s not a
happy time her father past away and it seems like her whole family is hanging
on my thread. Grace is determined to not let Luke get to her but that’s easier
said than done. After seeing her father’s beloved bookstore is closed she makes
it her mission to get it back up and running. However there is one obstacle in
her way and it has to do with the one person she didn’t want to have to deal
with. Can they truly put the past behind them and focus solely on the future or is history doom to repeat its self? You can't help but root for them.
I really
enjoyed this novel because it truly has everything a great book should. There’s
nothing better than a great written romance plus Christmas as the back drop,
now that’s a winning formula. I really felt I was in Briar Creek surrounded by
all these wonderful characters who just added to the feel of this small town. The chemistry
between Grace and Luke is off the charts! Talk about steamy! As much as they
are meant to be in my eyes, I like how we get the full back story of their
relationship. I love the give and take of it all. Everything isn’t all perfect,
they have their faults and they have gone through some difficult things in
their individual lives.
All in all
this is one book you have to read this winter. This is the book you can imagine
snuggling up with a cozy blanket and hot cocoa it’s just perfection! Plus this is
book one in a series and I for one can’t wait to read the next one.
Awww, this looks like a GREAT holiday read! I will definitely check this one out; thanks for sharing, Monica!
