EXCERPT
I’m four days shy of my eighteenth birthday, sandwiched between two Olympic gold medalists, and preparing to race for a spot in the 2016 Summer Olympics for the 400-meter event.
How did I even make it to the finals?
Hot bile floods my throat. As sweat drips from my brow, I hear a crazy woman shouting over the crowd.
“Breathe, baby! Breathe!”
Peeking over at the gate to the right of me, our eyes connect. I realize she’s my crazy woman. With her huge smile and eyes blazing with pride, my mom always brings me comfort. My gaze slides from her encouraging face and lands on that of my boyfriend. Patrick’s crooked smile has been the same since we were kids.
Just the sight of them, here by my side, reassures me. I gulp in a deep, cleansing breath and bow my head. This silences the deafening noise, and it helps me to forget my shortcomings.
“On your marks!” a stern voice—the voice I’ve been listening for—bellows over the loudspeaker.
I step in front of my tightly spaced starting blocks, jumping one last time into the air to activate my muscles. Then I crawl backwards into the blocks, my left foot positioned in the back. As I slide my feet in, a smirk creeps across my lips. I picture Coach Schwarz in the stands, scolding me like he does before every race.
“Morgan, switch your damn feet, and space out your blocks more!”
My left knee digs into the rubbery Tartan Track. I focus on the connection of my damp skin against the hot track below. I say a silent prayer, thanking it for supporting my feet and body race after race.
Then, one last breath. I position my fingers behind the white line and await my next command.
“Set!” booms the Starter’s robotic voice over the loudspeaker.
My hips shoot straight up. Fire replaces my blood, surging through my veins.
BANG!
The starting gun reverberates through me.
I push out of the blocks, careful not to go out too hard in the first 200 meters. Keeping my eyes glued straight ahead, I don’t allow my opponents to bait me. Instead, I wait for my time. I stick close to the pack until I see my sweet spot ahead.
“Kick. Kick. Kick.” The words play like a mantra in my head as I round the second curve of the track. My body is weightless. My brain needs no prompting as it propels my legs forward. My feet become lighter, and my spikes barely touch the track before shooting forward for my next stride.
My arms pump harder as I enter my part of the race. The part in which I shine, the part I relish. The finish line is just ahead. Movement on my right enters my peripheral vision. I feel Sammy closing in. She’s right on my tail.

Eventually her love of books translated into writing. She hopes to inspire others, especially children, to find their passion as she did.

Now that she owns a successful taco truck in San Francisco and an apartment to call home, Ivy’s reinvented life is on solid ground. And she’s guarded against anything that can rock it. Like the realities of a past she’s worked hard to cover up. And especially Kel O’Donnell. Too hot not to set off alarms, he screams temporary. If only his whispers weren’t so delightfully naughty and irresistible.

Kel, an Idaho sheriff and ranch owner, is on vacay, but Ivy’s a spicy reason to give his short-terms plans a second thought. Best of all, she’s a tonic for his untrusting heart, burned once and still in repair. But when Ivy’s past intrudes on a perfect romance, Kel fears that everything she’s told him has been a perfect lie. Now, if only Ivy’s willing to share, Kel will fight for a true love story.

About BAYSIDE ROMANCE

Fall in love at Bayside, where sandy beaches, good friends, and true love come together in the sweet small towns of Cape Cod. Bayside Summers is a series of standalone steamy romance novels featuring alpha male heroes and sexy, empowered women. They're fun, flirty, flawed, deeply emotional, always passionate, and easy to relate to. Gavin is about to find out that Harper really does exist-and she's going to knock his socks off! Find out for yourself in Bayside Romance! When screenwriter Harper Garner got a shot at the big-time in LA, she celebrated her brave cross-country move with her first and only one-night stand—connecting so deeply with the sexy, brilliant man, she broke the number-one rule of one-night stands and left her phone number. Not hearing from him was only the first in a long line of hope-shattering, confidence-busting blows. Ten months later, Harper is done with men and done with LA. She pulls up her big-girl panties and heads home to Cape Cod to start over. On the surface, interior designer Gavin Wheeler has it all: a successful business, a loving family, and a close-knit group of friends. But Gavin once endured a heartbreak so painful, he was sure he'd never feel anything for a woman again. A chance encounter at a music festival with a gorgeous, down-to-earth blonde proved him wrong, but when morning came, the woman who made him crave more was gone. A serendipitous evening reunites Harper with her devastatingly delicious one-night stand, and the connection is just as intense as she remembered. Harper's life is too unsettled for a relationship, but Gavin is determined to help her find her way, especially if it leads straight to his heart. Moonlight conversations lead to steamy kisses, and as romance blooms, it stirs a love too real to deny. But when Gavin's past collides with the life they're building, it has the power to ruin everything.

EXCERPT
She was having such a good time, it was hard to remember why she hadn’t wanted to accept his offer for a date in the first place. “I have to unpack the rest of my things and get organized this weekend or I’m going to lose my mind. I have a meeting with my boss at the newspaper on Monday and some other things to take care of Tuesday and Wednesday. But I’d really like to fit it in at some point.”
“Then we’ll find the time.” He reached over and felt her line. “Good job, Harp. Reel it in all the way. You’ve got this.”
She did as he said, squealing with delight as a big flapping fish broke the surface. “I did it! I got one! What do I do now?”
He grabbed the line and said, “I think you mean what do I do, unless you want to get the hook out of its mouth?”
“Ew!”
“I’ve got it. But first…” He dug his phone out of his pocket and took a picture of her holding the line with the fish dangling from it. He put his phone in the tackle box. As he removed the hook he said, “It’s a small-mouthed bass, about sixteen inches. Nice job, Harp.”
“It was your fish. I just reeled it in.”
“You reeled it in all right…”
He held her gaze, and her pulse sprinted at the innuendo in his eyes. Maybe he was right and she was giving too much weight to the combination of the bad dates and the show being canceled. Maybe she should trust her instincts.
Lord knew she wanted to.
They continued fishing and talking, and after catching two more, Gavin said, “Ready to go clean the fish and cook them for dinner?”
“Sure. This has been so much fun. Thank you for not letting me hide away in my cottage.”
“If I have it my way,” he said as they reeled in their lines, “you’ll never want to hide away again.”
He looked casual with a pole in his hand and the breeze lifting his hair. But his gaze wasn’t casual at all, the way it bored into her soul, imploring her to hear the meaningful words he said.
Her pole bent, snapping her from her Gavin-induced trance. “I’ve got one!” The front of her rod bent so far over she was afraid it would snap. She stood up to get a better grip and said, “I need help. Take it. It’s really strong.”
“Not a chance, sweetheart. This is your big catch. You’ve got it.”
“I don’t know about that,” she said, leaning back as she reeled it in.
“Trust yourself. That’s the theme of tonight, right?”
She looked at him at the same moment her line pitched forward. She lost her footing and screamed as she tumbled over the edge of the boat and into the frigid, black water. She couldn’t see a thing as she swam toward what she hoped was the surface, clinging to the rod with one hand. She felt a whoosh beside her and struggled to hold the air in her lungs as an arm circled her belly, dragging her in the opposite direction.
She broke the surface and gulped for air.
“I’ve got you, Harp,” Gavin panted out. He had one arm belted around her middle, using his legs and his other arm to tread water. “It’s okay. You’re okay, babe. I’ve got you.”
She was clinging to him with one arm around his neck and her legs around his waist and realized she was crying. For some reason that made her laugh, which made him laugh.
“You okay?” he said.
“Yes. Scared, embarrassed, but…” She lifted the rod from the water, proud to have never let go, and they both laughed.
“My little fisherwoman.” He tossed the fishing rod into the boat with one hand, still holding onto her.
His eyes found hers again, and she became aware of his muscles moving hard and insistent to keep them both afloat, the seriousness of his gaze, the feel of his strong hand on her skin, and the romantic moonlight raining down on them.
“How can you doubt yourself about anything, Harper? Those guys don’t know what they missed by screwing you over. If you were mine, I’d never make that mistake.”
She didn’t think, didn’t hesitate, as she crushed her lips to his warm, soft mouth. Even with his legs pumping and water splashing their faces, kissing Gavin was just as sensual and thrilling as she remembered. He held her tighter, deepening the kiss as they bobbed in the water, and sweet Lord, how she’d missed him.
When their lips parted, her head was spinning. “Sorry. No. I’m not sorry. I liked it. But—”
His deep laughter stopped her ramblings.
“You trusted your instincts, Harp. That’s a good thing.”
“Uh-huh,” she said. “But my life is still a mess. I can’t be with you like that until I have my own head on straight. I like you, Gavin. I really like you, and I don’t want to mess this up, but I’m sure to if my life is in a state of chaos.”
“I get it. You’re not ready. We’ll chalk that kiss up to how irresistible I am. But just so you know, you can trust your instincts with me anytime you’d like.”
God, he was so cocky and cute, she wanted to kiss him again!
“Come on, you’re shivering. Let’s get back to my place and warm you up.” He helped her into the boat, and as he climbed in after her, he said, “Who knows, you might have other instincts you want to follow.”
She wrapped her arms around herself, shivering despite the way her insides were still vibrating from that incredible kiss.
His eyes flamed, and he said, “I’m always available. Lips, hands, and other body parts, too...”

Driving Me Wild by Mia Carter

Genre: Contemporary Romance

About Driving Me Wild

I never in a million years thought that finding a lost pair of keys would lead to adventure.   All my life, I’ve been perfectly average. Compared to the rest of my high-achieving, type-A family, it feels impossible to stand out. While I’d love to make my big artistic dreams happen, I’m kind of stuck, thanks to a bunch of lame things like “affordable rent” and “keeping the internet on.” Dreaming doesn’t pay the bills. Freelance design work and part-time rideshare driving does. And it’s nice, for the most part. Finding a passenger’s thumb drive usually means reporting, returning, yay-hurrah-good-job-me. Except this time.   This time, I put the thumb drive in my computer. Hey, I’m just trying to be helpful! Suddenly a chat window pops up and the owner of the drive is bribing me to fly halfway across the world. Today. Turns out he's the super hot fare I haven't been able to stop thinking about...who just so happens to be Logan Weiss—the crazy-hot 29-year-old billionaire known as "the most eligible bachelor in tech”. What the hell am I even doing?

My coffee is finally cool enough to drink, and so I pick it up with the little folded paper handles and take a sip.   “Oh, I forgot to ask, did you want cream or sugar?”   I shake my head, swallowing the bitter brew and setting my cup down carefully on the oilcloth. “No, I really do like it black. But thank you.”   Logan gives me a curious, almost amused look.   “What?” I smile. “Don’t tell me you’re one of those people who like those sugar bomb blended drinks that barely pass for coffee?”   “They’re good,” he mutters. “And I don’t have them that often.”   I laugh out loud. “Unbelievable. You realize this knowledge is far more lucrative than any corporate secrets, right? Just think of what they’d do if your whole ‘Darth CEO’ vibe was tarnished by the presence of an extra-pump white-chocolate mocha.”   Logan looks up and glares at me, playful, from across the table. “‘Darth CEO?’”   “You know, your whole...” I gesture vaguely at him.   “Intense thing. You’re intimidating.”   His smile falters a little. “You think I’m intimidating?”   “Well I don’t, obviously,” I say, hastily correcting my earlier flippant comment. “I think you’re... People see you one way is all I’m saying. It happens to all of us.”   “So how do people see you, then?” he asks.   I laugh, but it’s a little nervous now. “Don’t do that.”   “Do what?”   “I already know how people see me,” I say. “I don’t need to go over that. I’m very much aware.”   When I look up from my meal, Logan is watching me, curious. “They think you’re talented. Creative. Vibrant?”   “Average,” I say. “Not quite good enough. If you saw my sisters, you’d understand.”   “I’m not here with your sisters,” Logan says.   “Neither of them found your keys.” I smile at him, trying to deflect his analysis of me without making it seem like that’s what I’m doing.   “I don’t want to be here with your sisters,” he amends. “Although I’m sure they’re perfectly lovely people.”   I don’t know what to say to this. So, instead, I pick up my coffee again, blow on it to keep my mouth from trembling. It hurts too much to have someone pretend to want you.

Book Blitz: Until I Fall by Claudia Burgoa

Until I Fall by Claudia Y. Burgoa
Published: April 1, 2017
Genres: Adult, Contemporary, Romance

Aspen
I gave my heart to a Navy SEAL.
He took it with him to his grave.
Eleven years later, ignoring the yawning void is as automatic as breathing. Working brutal hours, dating a comfortably commitment-phobic guy, hanging with my best friends. Anything until exhaustion—or an extra glass of wine—claims my consciousness.

My neighbor’s handsome, enigmatic son invades my comfort zone.
He says he’s a tattoo artist. But Anderson Hawkins’ piercing green eyes, mastery of the short answer, weird schedule, and military ink tell a different story.
His touch ignites a long-dead flame inside me. A flame I’m afraid to examine too closely, even as I’m drawn to its heat.

Anderson
I retired from Delta Force
Now I work at a high-intelligence security agency
But working undercover isn’t the adrenaline rush it used to be.
For one thing, my Mom’s illness shifted my priorities to finding a way to save her. For another, her neighbor next door, whose prickly defenses belie the unflinchingly caring heart underneath, has slipped under my skin. Now my mission is to convince her it’s safe to unlock her heart. Because I’m ready to give her mine.

Note: This contemporary romance contains a wary, overworked doctor who’s a military widow in every way but name, an ex-military hero accustomed to treading dangerous ground, brought together by a few unexpected twists and turns—and maybe the machinations of a cute dog.

“Hey...” He smiled, as a fresh strawberry margarita magically appeared in front of me, and although my jaw was already practically on the floor because of those glimpses of him I’d been stealing, they were nothing compared to having him so close. Those eyes, blue as the flames burning my skin. Scorching me. Branding my soul.
But still, this had to stop. It was ridiculous, and not at all how I should be reacting to a random stranger. He’d probably just recognized me and was a little starstruck. It happened occasionally, one of the penalties of being a minor TV celebrity.
I straightened my shoulders as I turned to cut him off, because if he was under the impression that I was some kind of a bimbo he was so, so wrong.
“Thank you, but I’m not interested, and as you can see I already have my own drink,” was all I could muster up. Although I was pretty sure he already knew who I was, he made no mention of it.
Bring it on.
His full lips curved in a smirk. I turned to look at Mandy Sue, who was staring at us like a hawk. A stunned one, I should add.
He said something in Mandy’s ear and she almost choked, her gray eyes as wide as saucers.
“What is it you want?” I asked, shaking my head at my friend’s reaction to whatever he’d said. “Who are you?”
“Just a random guy,” he replied with a smile, and my own faded.
Just a random guy, I thought while gazing at him. No, that was not true. A random guy would not look like that. There was nothing random about him. How his Henley T-shirt fit him and how I wanted to draw a road on his skin going south...
There was nothing random about the way my body reacted to his presence, alienating all my senses. Those eyes watching me so intensely as if they knew all the secrets of my body... and my soul.
There was nothing random about the way I trembled when his hand touched my shoulder softly, warming my skin; proclaiming that I was his and at the same time announcing to the world that he was mine.
There was definitely nothing random about the way he made me feel.
He was gorgeous in a panty-dropping way. More than that, some earth-shattering vibration was coming to me through the space separating us.
No, there was nothing random about him. About us.
“I’m Chase,” he stated confidently, his stare not dropping, not even slightly. Clearly, he was the kind of man who knew what he wanted. “Chase Holland.”
He’d set the course.
His determination like a spell between us.
He wasn’t even attempting to hide his intentions, no acting like a wolf in sheep’s clothing for him.
He was a hunter. The chaser. And clearly, he wanted me as his prey.
“And she’s Roselynn,” my friend offered on my behalf, even though I was right there, wondering where there was a hot potato to shove in her mouth when I needed it.
