My Thoughts

Pablo is just a guy working at a local deli when Leanna enters his world and turns everything upside down. One night Leanna walks into the deli and sparks fly and they hit it off and things take off from there. If they want to have fun and see where this goes they can’t let anyone know, meaning they must stay offline.

Each of them are having their own problems so they know this whatever it is won't last forever. Pablo is dealing with family issues and his college career is up in the air. Leanna has been in the spotlight all her life and all she wants is to have some time off and just be herself. I felt that they both entered each other’s lives just when they needed someone. They used each other as a means to escape what they were going through.

While I didn’t love this read I thought it was okay. I liked the characters but some of the storylines just went on longer than I thought they needed to. This was a middle of the road read for me but I would give the author another chance in the future.

My Thoughts

Second Chance Summer is the touching story of one family trying to make their Summer the most memorable yet. Taylor and her family decide to go to their Summer house after years of not going but this Summer is different, you see her father is gravely sick and this might be his last Summer. So they go to the one place where they have the best memories and hopefully this Summer will make them closer and they can focus on the good. 

Taylor loved her Summers in the Poconos, she had a best friend and her first love there, but her last Summer there she lost her best friend and she left her crush without a word. Being back feels strange yet comforting but once she runs into both of the people she left behind this Summer just became more complicated than Taylor wanted.

Second Chance Summer is all about family, friendships and love. We get the aspect of her family and them dealing with their dad and his illness and how that will have a huge effect on the family not only this Summer but for the rest of their lives. Despite her world falling apart all of this has made her family closer and stronger. We also have Taylor just trying to figure out life and trying to repair relationships from her past. I loved how this story was so real and it was touching and showed us how growing up is a very hard thing to try to navigate. Morgan Matson gives us a well-rounded story and spotlights teen life at its best, this is one book that is the perfect thing to read during the Summer.

My Thoughts

I will admit I was a little iffy about this book but I was surprised how much I liked it. In Five Feet Apart we meet Stella and Will who both have CF but react to their disease in vastly different ways. Stella does everything she is supposed to do. She’s the go by the book type of patient while Will isn’t. All Will wants is to be 18 so he can live the life he wants, he wants adventures and to live his life to the fullest before his CF takes his life.

So when Stella and Will meet there is, of course, a clash, she hates that he doesn't take his treatments seriously and he hates that she doesn't truly live her life. So like all tales of hate/love they soon fall for each other. However this affection they have for each other will literally kill them, they can't come within five feet from each other because while they both have CF they have different forms of it and if they come close to each other they can ruin Stella’s chance of lung transplant something that she has been hoping and striving for forever.

I really enjoyed this tale I loved the chemistry between Stella and Will and I also loved the supporting characters as well. This story could've easily been cheesy and over the top but it straddled the line perfectly. I fell in love with these two and their story and it truly gave me the feels. I made me laugh and smile but it also touched and broke my heart. This is one story that's a fast-paced tale of love, friendship and shows us how to truly live.

My Thoughts

P.S. I Still Love You picks up right where the first book left off, we see Lara Jean trying to figure out where exactly she and Peter K are in their relationship. We finally get introduced to John and that leads to more friction between her and Peter. While I did like the chemistry between Lara Jean and John let’s be real he is no Peter K! However, the friendship and scenes between these two were SO adorable. I also liked the scenes with the elders at the retirement home, those seniors are so feisty...LOVE IT!

What I continue to love is the relationships with Lara Jean and her family. I love the closeness they have and that they stick together no matter what. I really feel for Lara Jean when she talks about missing her mom and how that really is hard for her especially now that she needs her the most.

This series continues to keep me interested in the lives and loves of the Covey sisters and their bond is like no other. I will continue to root for Lara and Peter no matter what and can't wait to see how this story ends. Jenny Han gives us another great book and gives us those feels like only she can.

Late to the Game [5]: Amy & Roger's Epic Detour by Morgan Matson

The thing is 99% of the time I have these books but they have just been pushed back on my TBR pile. This won’t be a review of sorts seeing how everyone already knows the basics of the story but more of what I felt and how it affected me. I’ve dedicated this feature to try to put a dent in my pile and also to see if they live up to the hype…good and/or bad.

My Thoughts

I loved this book on SO many levels! Although it deals with some tough issues I loved how the road trip was almost like therapy. The chemistry between Amy and Roger was very interesting. I enjoyed how it slowly grew and wasn’t rushed like in some other novels. I felt that we were passengers with them as they explored the country and worked out their issues. As much as I adore books I also enjoy music so finding out that music played a major role in this book was such a highlight for me. The playlists were amazing and I thought they went well with the storyline and the states they travelled through. This is one road trip book that is so wonderful and amazing it’s beyond words. It’s all about healing, life lessons and most importantly finding yourself. Sometimes life’s little detours are way more healing that things that are planned.

My Thoughts

I’ve heard so many awesome things about this series I knew I had to read it at some point. After reading To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before I knew I had to read it NOW. I read the first one The Summer I Turned Pretty in literally a day. LOVED it! Needless to say I devoured the next two back to back.

This series definitely lived up to the hype. I fell in love with Belly, Jeremiah and Conrad. Ok maybe not so much Conrad. At least not so much in the beginning, I thought he was mean and rude but then after getting into the series I realized the kind of person he was. Just like me. Yeah that’s right I said like ME. I saw myself in him as far as how he always distances himself and his feelings towards other. He doesn’t always show emotions nor does he speak his feels that often. It’s not that he doesn’t want to; he just doesn’t want to get rejected or hurt.

Jenny Han paints the picture of Cousins beach with such realness that I could close my eyes and see it. I could smell the salty air and feel the wind coming off the water. Not only are there wonderful characters but the supporting cast is amazing as well. However what I loved and enjoyed the most was how I got so invested in these characters so fast. Seeing them grow up and dealing with an issue that at times breaks your heart. There is not one of us who can’t identify with the triumphs and tragedies of growing up and trying to find out where and how we fit  into this crazy world. Throw in some romance and heartache you can’t go wrong. This is one read I wished I read earlier however I’m so glad I got to meet and fall in love with them and you should too.

My Thoughts

I loved the whole concept of this book. It’s about Laura Jean who has these crushes and never says anything but decides to write letters to them and just let it go. This is something I would’ve loved to have done in my teen years. We all have these super crushes and it seems like we can’t tell them or tell anyone for that matter but we just want to say it out loud. And while she is mortified and scared of what might happen after the letters are unexpectedly mailed the outcomes are quiet surprising. I enjoyed the encounters she had when each guy confronted her about their letter.

While I enjoyed the whole crushes and letters angle of the story what I really loved most was the family aspect of it. Laura Jean and her two sisters are what made this the best thing ever in my eyes. Their connection and commitment to one another and their father was breath taking. You see their mother died early on in their lives and basically all they had were each other and their dad. They lean on each other and are very protected and won’t let anyone or anything stand in their way. The way they mother each other is never over bearing but they give each other just enough room to live and learn. This to me was what made this read the most enjoyable. Of course like all siblings they had their fights and misunderstanding but in the end family is the true star.

This was my only second Jenny Han experienced. I just recently [I know right?!] got into her novels and now I’m just trying to catch up. She writes the best stuff and she makes it look so easy, even though I know it’s not. So do yourself a favor and get to know the Song sisters, you will be glad you did! The only downside? We have to wait til next year to see what happens next.

My Thoughts

I was a little nervous when I first decided to read this novel. I had never read a Jenny Han book before and I’m always nervous when it comes to reading a book or series that so many people love and adore. I’m always scared that I won’t like it or even worse it won’t live to the hype, not so much the hype from others but the one I’ve built up in my head. Well I’m glad to say this has lived up to it and more.

I quickly feel in love with Belly, Jeremiah and Conrad. The summer world that Jenny Han built was near perfection. I totally envisioned myself at the beach right along with them. I loved the tale of these friends who were more like family who grew up together every summer. I also loved the flashbacks of the summers past; it gave us some insight on how everyone grew over time. Like any girl coming of age, Belly is dealing with the pains of growing up and figuring out who she is and her growing feelings for the boys in her life. While she has always loved more than the other she still feels torn and is trying to figure out if what she ever feels is even real.

In reading this it can’t help but bring back those memories of that first crush and trying to figure out if its love or not. That summer has been the hardest for Belly, dealing with her parents divorce, coming to terms with who she really wants to give her heart to and deciding wither or not just to declare her true feelings and let the chips fall where they may.

This novel is the perfect contemporary YA beach read. It has characters you won’t be able to forget and a storyline that captures you from the very first sentence. I honestly don’t know why I’ve waited so long to read it, and now that I have I can’t wait to find out how the rest of the series plays out.

My Thoughts

I received this book as a total surprise from the publisher. I’ll be honest I didn’t know if this was a book I could or wanted to get into. I had never read anything by Lauren DeStefano so I thought I’s at least give this a try and see what happens.

OMG!! This book blew me away from the very start. Lauren DeStefano? Awesome! Why haven’t I read her books sooner? This book took me on a ride I will never forget. She paints a picture of a world that’s mysterious, beautiful and one that I want to know how she could dream up. The setting and back drop, those of a floating city, curious people who want to explore more of the world than just their own known as "jumpers", and arrange marriages that are made way before individuals are born. How people are only live to a set date then die to make way for the next generation.

The story focuses on Morgan Stockhour who is a teen with curiosity burning inside her. She wants to know if there is a life better and bigger than Internment, if there is really a life down there on "the ground." She holds on this in because if she doesn't she knows it wouldn't be good for her or her family. While she holds these secrets inside of herself, a "murder" happens. Is it murder? Or just someone trying to cover up something, so the people of Internment who are willing to let their curiosity of the possibility of another world won't let it get the best of them. It's a world filled with lies, secrets and in my opinion possible cover ups to what's really going on.

This is a fast paced read one that DeStefano paints to perfection. I personally can't wait for the next installment, to see where this ride takes me. If you are looking for the next great series to get into, I recommend this wholeheartedly. Trust me you won't be disappointed!

My Thoughts

Fate. It’s a wonderful thing. There are those who believe it in and those who don’t. I’m proud to say I whole heartedly believe in it. I think that is why I love and adore this book so. It’s just a wonderfully written book about true love, fate and destiny.

I believe all things happen for a reason and this storyline definitely deals with that. I enjoy how Parker’s journey of self-discovery mirrors that of Julianna’s. How while searching and finding out the truth behind Julianna’s life through her journal she starts to believe in herself more than ever before. I also enjoy the how Parker, Kat and Trevor play off each other.

This is my first time experiencing the work of Jessi Kirby. Simply put I think she’s AMAZING! She has a way with words that blows me away. Needless to say I will go back and be reading all her past works.

In the end this is one story that will make you believe. Maybe love and destiny isn’t something to be taken lightly, that it’s more powerful that one could possibly think. Some things in life are just simply meant to be and no matter how one can try and stop it, some things just can’t be stopped or explained. Do yourself a favor and pick this up, it’s simply a beautiful read.
