My Thoughts
I don't usually review cookbooks on the blog but when I heard Jane Green was releasing one I have to make the exception! This is one beautiful cookbook people! I loved everything about this one, the recipes look so delicious and what I found most appealing was that they seem simple enough for me to try.
I have tried one recipe that was the pesto sauce, everyone loved it and I will make this one again. I love that she gives you a whole menu from start to finish, everything from apps to desserts I will definitely be trying some of those desserts during the upcoming holiday season. All in all this cookbook is wonderful for beginners to expert cooks this is one that I highly recommed!

My Thoughts

Barefoot Beach is a tale of loss and rediscovering love when and where you least expect it. Nora is spending her summers as she always has in Tuckahoe Maryland but since her husband has died it isn’t the same. Yes, she has her son but he is growing up and is spending less time with her. This summer her son has told her a shocker that he wants to meet his donor dad. While his real father did pass away he was conceived via a donor since the man who raised him was unable to have children. So not only is Nora dealing with the fact that her son is on the brink of meeting this man but also with the fact that when he does her son thinks they make a perfect match.

Nora is trying to deal with the idea of moving on and dating again but also with her career. She teaches dance and that’s where she meets an ex-soldier whom she clicks with instantly and after learning he is divorced sparks fly. Although I love the whole romance aspect of the book what I enjoyed most was the female friendships in the read. I love Nora’s interactions with her best friend Margo who is so funny but is constantly doubting her husband’s love and devotion to her. We also met her good friend Em who is trying to deal with the teenage daughter and her mother in law who comes to discipline her granddaughter. Between these friends, they have enough drama to fill the summer. This is a good beach read that will make you laugh and root for the possibility of a second chance at love.

I love reading stories about family and the dynamics that are within them. So this one sounds like something that I could really like. Plus Karen White is an amazing writer so I know I won’t be disappointed.

My Thoughts

If you haven’t read a Beth Kendrick book drop what you’re doing and go read one or two or all! I’ve been lucky enough to read a few of her books and let me say they are the best. They are funny, cute and just the breath of fresh air that everyone needs in their lives.

In New Uses for Old Boyfriends she continues doing so. We meet Lila who has recently lost her job and her husband and is now in route back home to her mom after the recent death of her father. She goes home to Black Dog Bay and is thrown for a loop when she realizes her mother is knee deep in debt and must find a way to make her mom realize what trouble she is in. While all her mom wants is to spend more money and find Lila a new husband via some old high school flames. I love the relationship between Lila and her mother; although at times Lila is forced into the adult role I love how much they love each other and the banter between them. The other stars of the show are the background characters of Black Dog Bay. I love how quirky and funny they are!

What I love most about this book is how Beth Kendrick writes strong women leads. They might seem weak but they always come out on top. They never give up and despite all the heartache and heartbreak they endure they never give up on love. This read is all about making the most with the hardships life throws your way. So go and read her books…they are truly worth it!

My Thoughts

This book took me awhile to get into but once I did I really enjoyed it. It’s a multi-generational read, it’s told in different voices through alternating chapters. Although sometimes I had to keep straight what was what I loved how it almost read like two stories in one.

It all starts with Vivien who is coming back home after years of being gone. She comes to find her grandmother but finds out she has passed. Her family is basically at its wits end, her mom has her issues and her brother hasn’t been the same since she left. We slowly learn why she left and what has really brought her back home.

While I’m not usually fan of a slow read this one I really took to. It’s just slow enough not to get me too impatient, it pulls you in and as enough to keep me intrigued. The Walker women are one of best set of female characters I’ve read about in a while. I love a story that has layers upon layers plus add some long buried secrets I’m in! No to mention I love reading stories about the South; I love the rich history that it brings to the table.

This is one of those books that is perfect for many types of readers. It has mystery, secrets, family and forgiveness. The perfect read for a long hot summer day.

My Thoughts

I had high hopes for this book. As a fan of Jen Lancaster’s previous books I thought I was in for a treat, well sadly I wasn’t. I didn’t get the laughable moments I’ve gotten in her other books. Maybe it was me I don’t know but I just couldn’t get into the story. There was just something that didn’t click with me. As I read on I was just waiting for something to happen, for the storyline to pick up but needless to say it never did for me.

I couldn’t relate to the main character. She just didn’t give me anything. Even if I don’t like a character sometimes I tend to find some common ground with them but with this one I didn’t. She just wasn’t very likeable. As someone who hates to leave a book midway through I struggled to finish it.

Although I didn’t feel a connection to this book in particular I’m still a fan of Jen Lancaster. I look forward to her next read, and while I didn’t click with this book I do recommend her previous books especially Here I Go Again I fully enjoyed them.

My Thoughts

I was pleasantly surprised when I received this book for review. Karen White is an author who while I haven’t read a lot of her books; I have enjoyed the ones I have. I thoroughly enjoyed this beautifully written story. While it was a tad slow for me at certain parts, I felt like overall it was a lovely and touching story. A story of getting past guilt, allowing you to move on and allowing yourself to love, this is one that can speak to all of us on different levels. I loved the interactions between Eleanor and Helena. As you read their stories you can see the likeness between both these women. How some of their own past actions, emotions and lives definitely mirror each other.

My favorite part is the setting of the book. I can resist a good beach read that can make you feel as if you there. I felt as if I was there in Edisto, feeling the warm summer breeze. Helena’s old beach house and all her eccentric finds just seem like a wonderful place I would love to visit.

This is a fabulous summer read that you easily enjoy on a hot lazy summer day, surely worth the read.
