Synopsis
Christina
Forrester is starting over. After a financial scandal sent her ex-husband to
prison, she's left raising her young son without any of the comforts of their
old life. Budgets, coupons, lawn care—you name it, she's learning to do it all
on her own. Well, almost on her own—she'd be lost without Gail Broughton, the
kind widow across the street. But when Gail's son comes home, Christina's vow

Will
Broughton left town because he was tired of being "that poor man" who
lost his wife and unborn child in a tragic accident. But years have passed and,
with his dad gone and his mom alone, it's time to go home. Only his mother's
not alone. She's taken Christina under her wing, and the beautiful and
determined single mother awakens something in Will he thought was buried
forever.
As
Will and Christina are forced to spend more time together, feelings that are
more than neighborly grow between them. And with Christmas coming and a child
filling both houses with holiday cheer, it becomes nearly impossible not to
embrace the joy—and the love—in their lives.
My Thoughts
This is the
heartfelt story of Christina and Will who both are trying to recover over a
series of events that have turned each of their lives upside down. Christina is
trying to get her and her son back on track after her now ex-husband was sent
to prison for embezzlement. She’s experiencing a wakeup call of sorts after
living of posh life of fancy trips and endless money and now has to live on a
budget and get a job to make ends meet. She doesn’t trust anyone and has too
much pride to ask for any help determined to make a new life for her son, one
that she can be proud of.
Will on the
other hand hasn’t been back home since the death of his wife and unborn child. Needing
to recover from the horrible pain he has ever felt he has come back to send the
holidays with his mother after the death of his father. After arriving home he
sees his mother has taken an interest in her new neighbor and her son. After meeting
Christina he tries his hardest to not get swept up in her. He has never felt
these feeling towards anyone since the death of wife. As much as he tries to not
fall for her he can’t help it.
I love how
both of these characters are trying to start over their lives after heartache. They
are both strong people who have been hurt and have built up these walls to
protect themselves from further damage. But sometimes we can’t fight fate,
sometimes we can’t fight that there is something bigger out there than us. This
is why I loved this book it focuses on faith, hope and second chances. The romance
is sweet and you can’t help but root for these two to come together and became
a family. And the fact that all this happens during Christmas just makes it all
the more magical. I can’t say enough about this wonderful read but it’s just perfect for this time of year.
