Saffy had the funniest look on her face when Bruce asked her to dance. For a brief moment, he thought she was going to scoff and then he would have to play it off by making a trip to the men’s room. But then the most wondrous thing happened: Saffy giggled, and the most fantastic, beautiful smile lit up her gorgeous face as she took his hand and slipped off her chair. They walked hand in hand to the dance floor, and when they got to the edge, Bruce took a chance and twirled her so Saffy ended up in his arms. The song wasn’t slow, but he didn’t want to let her go, so Bruce settled into a modified two-step as he led her around the dance floor. They didn’t try to talk, which was just fine with Bruce. He twirled her again. She responded with another giggle, but when her teeth bit into her bottom lip and her eyes shined, Bruce knew he was a goner. They danced for the rest of the song, both of them laughing as Bruce attempted to coax her into a complicated behind-the-back pretzel twist that didn’t quite come off. But instead of getting irritated when they bumped into another couple, both of them offered simultaneous apologies and continued to dance. Bruce took their failed twist as a sign that he should just hold her close, and she seemed to agree. The song ended, but Tobias Harper didn’t stop playing; instead, he launched into another song, this one slow and romantic. Saffy settled into his arms with a little sigh and laid her head against his chest. He pulled her tight, conscious that she could hear his heart thrumming in his chest. They swayed together on the dance floor, slow dancing even as the next upbeat song began. “You’re good at this.” Bruce swallowed hard. Saffy had her hand wrapped around the back of his neck, her fingers playfully brushing the edges of his hairline, which seemed to be directly connected to his cock. He pressed his hand more firmly against the small of her back, drawing her closer to him, and delighted in the fact that she nestled into his chest, that her body seemed to fit perfectly with his. “Thank you?” he replied when he thought his voice wouldn’t betray him and sound like a newly pubescent goof. Saffy laughed and looked up at him, her eyes glinting with mischief and maybe something more. “You don’t sound so sure about that, Bruce Baird.” He shrugged. “I’ve always enjoyed dancing.” “It shows.” He twirled her twice, just to make her laugh some more, then Bruce pulled Saffy close to him again. They danced until Tobias Harper stopped playing, and even then, they stayed on the dance floor as the recorded music came on, their bodies swaying in time to the subtle rhythm of the music. He bent his head down to whisper in her ear, so close he could inhale the scent of her. Saffy smelled like vanilla and lavender and something else, something with a little bit of an edge. “You know, you’re not so bad yourself,” he murmured in her ear. She rewarded him with another big smile and a little dip of her head. He couldn’t help but drift his fingers across her cheek. Her skin was so soft, so smooth. He bet her lips were as well. He wanted to test his theory, realizing that he’d wanted to do so since they’d had drinks, and wondered if she’d felt the same.
