My Thoughts

I am so torn by this read. I loved the concept and thought it was going to be a fantastic read however I was just left feeling…nothing. Seriously? How is it possible to feel nothing when the story is about a woman who is left devastated after finding out her husband has been having an affair? I thought I would sympathize with her but sadly I was more annoyed than anything. I just honestly wanted her to make up her mind about forgiving him or not. In a sense I felt like Daphne, just like her I was flip flipping about how I felt about this book. It had the promise but in my opinion it was just a tad flat for me.

My Thoughts

Man did this book touch my soul. I had so many feelings while reading it; I was mad, sad then happy talk about a rollercoaster of emotions! I felt a connection to Alexis, while I am still blessed to have my family; I still understood why she didn’t want to celebrate the holidays after losing her mother. The holidays are meant to be with family and with her mother not around and a sister who wasn’t fond of her who could blame her. Although she has a wonderful fiancé his mother has been a thorn in her side since day one. She has always looked down at Alexis for not being good or proper enough for her son. Alexis has bent over backwards trying to be nice but nothing she does can make his mom happy. One day his mom tries to break them up and sets in motion a set of lies and actions that finally is the last straw for Alexis. Can she get over this and can her love for Chase be strong enough to survive this?

Man is this the meanest mama I’ve ever seen! I know sometimes no one is ever good enough for your child but this mama plays just down right dirty. Not to mention I was a bit mad because it seemed that Chase wasn’t ever going to grow a pair and stand up to his mother. No disrespect but when you’re grown you have to live the life YOU want and not how others want you to live. What I loved the most was when some secrets were revealed and it definitely put that person in their place! I was left with my jaw on the ground, I didn’t see that coming. I love a read with some good juice from time to time. Haha! In the end I loved how this read came full circle. The things that truly mattered came to light and good did prevail.

My Thoughts

Oh how I wanted to truly love this book. As a huge Nicholas Sparks fan it had everything I wanted and needed in a classic book by him. It had two characters who weren’t supposed to be together but you know were meant to be, there was that something that kept them apart and lastly there was the undeniable love that couldn’t keep them apart no matter what. So what was the problem you ask? Well I think there was just too much doing on. There was the flash backs to when they were young, which I had no problem with. However there was this storyline of Dawson’s family that honest I could’ve done without. Yes it did play a role in the end but I just didn’t feel like it did much in the overall aspect of things.

Overall I did enjoy the story; I love the way Nicholas Sparks gives us characters to root for. However of all his characters I just didn’t fall in love with these two, I didn’t feel that connection like I have in the past. I will admit the ending did get me and that was classic Sparks to me. While I wasn’t head over heels with this one I do want to see the movie which comes out today. I want to see how the book and movie differ and how the characters work with each other. Plus I just adore James Marsden I think he is so underrated as an actor not to mention he isn’t hard on the eyes. Haha! This is once instance where the movie trailer really made me want to see the movie and not so much just because I read the book.
