Synopsis
Maddy is a devoted stay-at-home wife and mother, host of excellent parties, giver of thoughtful gifts, and bestower of a searingly perceptive piece of advice or two. She is the cornerstone of her family, a true matriarch...until she commits suicide, leaving her husband Brady and teenage daughter Eve heartbroken and reeling, wondering what happened. How could the exuberant, exacting woman they loved disappear so abruptly, seemingly without reason, from their lives? How they can possibly continue without her? As they sift through details of her last days, trying to understand the woman they thought they knew, Brady and Eve are forced to come to terms with unsettling truths.

Maddy, however, isn’t ready to leave her family forever. Watching from beyond, she tries to find the perfect replacement for herself. Along comes Rory: pretty, caring, and spontaneous, with just the right bit of edge...but who also harbors a tragedy of her own. Will the mystery of Maddy ever come to rest? And can her family make peace with their history and begin to heal?

My Thoughts
In I Liked by Life we meet Maddy who is a mother and wife who loves her life or at least it seemed like it until it is believed she committed suicide and her family and friends are left to wonder why and question how could they have not seen the signs. Told through Maddy’s voice overlooking her family we see how her husband and daughter are forced to move on and try to figure out a life without Maddie and more importantly try and figure out how to connect with each other.
Brady and Eve are more apart than close and as they try to come to terms with Maddie’s death neither one can believe she was that unhappy and would just leave them like that. Yes, they knew there was a history of depression in Maddie’s family especially her mother but no way can they accept she killed herself. Maddie is seeing all this and is willing her husband and daughter towards clues. She wants them to grow closer and she wants them happy despite her not being there. She even tries to find the perfect replacement for herself to help her loved ones but if that works out or not is something even Maddie cant completely make happen.

All through the story, you are left to wonder if she killed herself or not. I was debating back and forth and not until the very end do we really know what happened. This story tore me apart! It is beautifully written and it’s a tearjerker without a doubt. You feel for everyone involved and this will break your heart. I can't say enough amazing things about this read if you want a great with heart look no further than I Liked My Life.
