Synopsis
Clementine Daly knows she’s the black sheep. Her wealthy, powerful family has watched her very closely since she almost got caught in an embarrassing scandal a few years ago. So when Clementine’s sent on a mission to live up to the Daly name, politely declining isn’t even an option. Of course, the last thing Clementine does before departure is grabbed a stranger’s phone by mistake—leaving the hunky journalist with her phone. Soon his sexy voice is on the line, but he doesn’t know her real name or her famous pedigree—which is just the way Clementine likes it.

Despite all the hassles, Justin Mueller is intrigued to realize that the beautiful brown-eyed girl he met at the airport is suddenly at his fingertips. They agree to exchange phones when they’re both back in town, but after a week of flirty texts and wonderfully intimate conversations, Justin doesn’t want to let her go that easy. The only problem? It turns out that Clementine has been lying to him about, well, everything. Except for the one thing, two people can’t fake, the only thing that matters: The heat between them is for real.

My Thoughts
When I read the synopsis I was instantly pulled in and knew I wanted to read this book. While I was really into it and was all in the feels when something happened…what that was…well, I’m still trying to figure that out. Confused? Yeah well, welcome to the club. I was really loving this book until a quarter of the way and I was literally taken aback and had to see if I was reading the same book.

The first half was cute and sweet, the way Clementine and Justin met and how their relationship developed was what I love to read about. Yes some could say it was quick but hey that happens sometimes, love is unpredictable. But it’s the other half of the book that threw me for a loop. Clem was this bold and flirty girl over the phone she seemed so confident but as soon as they met back up and they went out she seemed so…unlike the person I had come to know and like. She lacked the confidence that was there in the beginning to the point that it was unattractive. She became this clingy and jealous person I was like who is this person. I get that she has trouble in her last relationship but not to the point that it justified how she acted now. To be honest, I made myself finish this read and didn’t really care how it ended.  I just felt that I was reading two different versions and the reason I gave it three stars, to be honest, is because I loved the first part of the book so much.

  1. Great review! I completely agree with you re: the second half of the book -- it seemed to take such an odd turn once she back in Chicago!

    1. Right! I'm glad I'm not the only one who felt that way.
